The following information is tailored to our Intimate, Boutique Receptions & Ceremonies 

At Knockninny Country House we invite you to allow us to host your Wedding Reception, Wedding Ceremony or both magical events with us.

Our Boutique Wedding Receptions are designed with intimacy in mind. We cater for 20 persons to 45 taking place inside Knockninny House. These numbers lend themselves to a sit down, formal wedding breakfast. Additionally, if you are hosting an extended evening reception, you are very welcome to invite further guests with maximum total numbers of 100.

For Wedding Ceremonies we are licensed to accommodate up to 200 guests depending on the ceremony location. You can be married with as few as 5 persons, up to and including 200 per persons.

Location Choices at Knockninny 

Receptions can be held either in our Ground Floor Restaurant or in our First Floor Porter Room. Both settings provide the dramatic views we are renowned for. 

Ceremony locations include The Porter Room,, Knockninny Gardens/Grounds, Marquee Pavillion and our Private Floating Pontoon. The Porter Room is used at times of inclimate weather. 

Arrivals by Lake/ Lake Tours 

We have arrangements with external tour operators for your impressive arrival by boat or boat tour during your day. The boats offer 2 different experiences from luxury state of the art cruising to traditional, regal, boating. Please ask us. 

For your Wedding Ceremony, you can choose from any of the following locations.

This is Your Big Day. You probably have lots of questions so, here we’ve tried to cover the most commonly asked. 

Do You have accommodation on site? 

Yes. Knockninny House sleeps 16 persons on a B&B basis. We also have The Old Boathouse self-catering which has 4 double bedrooms sleeping up to 8 persons. You can advise us in advance of your invitations being posted of the guest names you wish to stay with us and, they can then book with us directly. This avoids any confusion and overlap for room bookings. We offer very special wedding rates and would like you to book all accommodation in Knockninny House, in which case, your Bridal Suite on your wedding night is on us! For your self-catering guests (if booked) we can arrange breakfast in Knockninny House next day at an additional cost.  

Do we have to set everything up ourselves? 

No. We set everything up for you for Ceremonies and Receptions. Included is Table Linen, Crockery, Cutlery, Glassware, Silver Candleabras (if required). The only set up you will do is personal effects such as place names, favors etc. It should be noted that if you are considering different arrangements for your Ceremony such as retro hay bales for example, for seating, then the set up and removal of these is the couples responsibility. 

Do You Charge Corkage. Can we bring our own Drinks? 

We do not permit corkage as wines/sparklers are included in the menu options. We are a licensed premises and any beverages should be purchased from us. Should you have a particular brand/beverage in mind we will do our best to source this for you. 

Can we run a Free/Complimentary bar 

Of course. By prior arrangement with couples you can run a free bar for all or part of your day. You can make a deposit to us for this by arrangement with the events coordinator. A full receipt and/or balance will be returned to you next day. 

Are we allowed Fireworks/Chinese Lanterns  

Fireworks are permitted by controlled licensed pyro technicians and are by prior arrangement only. Our location is in an Area of Special Scientific Interest which protects wildlife and the environment. Chinese lanterns are uncontrolled and can be a potential hazard to boats and the environment, these, we regret are not permitted. 

Can we have candles? Can we have confetti? 

Yes. All candles should be in containers larger than the candles themselves. Biodegradable confetti is welcome in our gardens only. 

Can we bring our own food? 

No. With exception to the Wedding Cake for environmental health and insurance reasons. 

Can you help with DJ’s, Bands, Florists etc,? 

Of course. We are more than happy to do so and will send out a list after you have booked if required.  

Can we Moor our Boat at your Private Jetty? 

Of course! If you are a boat owner and wish to bring your vessel then you are very welcome to moor with us. If other guests wish to bring their boat then an overnight berthage fee is chargeable  

Can we decorate the venue inside/outside? 

Please speak with our Events Coordinator about the decoration you have in mind. We are open to decoration within reason. 

Do you have a PA System? Is there power outside?
